Phoenix Functional PranaBreath Method is a Life Coaching Method that is a culmination of my life work. As a Life Coach my main FOCUS is INTEGRITY. Living fully through living Aligned. It reflects my life being radically changed by 4 spinal injuries! The first one from skiing in 2007 and The most recent was in India, while studying ACRO YOGA. The injury and illness changed the way my body moved and performed. It was traumatizing to realize that the yoga I was so attached too, I could not only NOT get into any inversions but could NOT TEACH one of the things I had put my life and time into.
I loved Ashtanga! I loved acro, handstands, headstands... I was at my strongest at the time of my most recent injury.
Then, it was gone.
As a result of this major shift in my body , it radically shifted my ability to manifest in the way I had externally participated in the world.
Today, my personal practice has evolved my private teaching and group yoga teachings to emphasize FUNCTIONAL asana movement patterns as well as a Major Shift to teach Breath exculsive complelely from asana/yoga moments. The Yoga I teach emphasizing not the OLD patterns of tradition ... but the NEW.
With honor, I come into the world, a changed person and offer , to others, how we can transform our lives by utilizing a Yoga that is also transformed, meeting the needs of our current human bodies in our current functional needs and how we manifest in our work.
I have always been a Life Coach. I have always incorporated aspects of Coaching into my business as a Bodyworker , Massage Therapist, Physical Therapist Assistant, Personal Trainer, Yoga Teacher, friend, peer, family member... My life has been one of extreme suffering that through much hard work, skill, dedication, education, therapy, self love, intelligence and a fierce commitment to heal myself and live my most grateful, happy, and healthy life- I have survived and learned to thrive. Its My OWN LIFES WISDOM teachings that I bring to the table- to serve and assist in others desire to live their happiest, most liberated and successful selves.
Life Coaching is about inviting one into Curiosity. Into knowing ones own truth for this moment. I have learned that the body often tells me something very different than my mind, cognition, beliefs- and although I embrace no good nor bad- I believe the body has something to say and I teach one to honor the voice of the body, listen, and invite curiosity, compassion, self love and real tools to move the emotion, action and cognition into alignment. Fiercely Facing Fears- radical shifting through the recognition, identification and discernment between the body, the mind, and yes- the spirit. When we align within- our lives will align , without.
Breath Therapy can be performed exclusively lying down , sitting, with or without active movement into stretches. My foundational teaching begins with Conscious Breath, then begins to evolve into utilizing breath techniques Specifically for an individuals health and wellness needs such as Support and Strengthen Immune System, recovery from injury/illness, increasing vital lung capacity, support with cardiovascular, autoimmune, injury and tissue healing, Stress Management, GI issues , anxiety/depression/PTSD, ADHD and Sooooo much more! Deeper practise is offered for those who want to use breath specifically for an increased Conscious Awareness to all of Life, including being a part of Systemic Changes for a Greater Sustainable World.
When I could not move in the way I had known, I found another way to move- through the Conscious Awareness of my breath. This process has changed my life, created resiliency, self regulation, helped my bones and tissue heal and empowered me to a Call of Action- Self love, self mastery and a lived body experience of the Science of Breath.
Here at Orthopedic Massage Therapy, and PhoenixPranaLife Wellness Coaching- as well as wherever I teach, live or breath, my intention is to present “yoga” that is functional to our society today. Taking into consideration the yogic philosophy of old as well as the correlating physiological effects of breath, skilled movement, and the combination of the two as having the ability to make REAL changes in the body and the mind. This means that I present yoga to all individuals as an exercise for the brain and the body - the intention is to help one achieve Sattva or ‘balance’. Expect a workout, a challenge in attention to the form, breath and self. One on one sessions are constructed based on daily, moment to moment objectives that are functional to body mechanics, physiological needs, stress management on the physical form as well as the emotional state. Each and every session builds upon the last. Helping the participant, value the instruction as one that becomes a tool of empowerment- that the student can eventually, judge for self, what they need and decide how and when to apply skill- to physical movement, life skills that lead to a more balanced mind, an elevated awareness of where the body is in space at all times, an ability to choose. This does lead to precision and power in your sports performance, work performance, increasing your safety in movement, and potentially so very much more. Know yourself, know choice, know freedom.
Phoenix Functional PranaBreath Method is a combination of yoga asanas, pranayama, self body scan and massage techniques as a form to help increase body awareness and perhaps range of motion increases, strength gains and chronic pain relief. This Method is assessed to each individual need at that time, it can be completely performed for stress management, mindfulness without movement, and being completely still if deemed appropriate for the practitioner.
Phoenix Functional PranaBreath Yoga is the protocol performed when teaching Group yoga classes either on site at OMT or other venues usually Sura Namascarya A and B is not utilizied in group yoga. Instead, functional movements to honor the human we are TODAY. Focusing on antagonistic active stretching to work out the tight muscles we use most and strengthen the ones we do not engage as much.
PhoenixPranaLife Coaching: I offer hour long , weekly coaching sessions as well as I offer a 6 Month Mentorship program consisting of breath, movement, functional and structural self assessment tools as it relates to Self Sustainability, longevity, performance, healing, health, wellness and the dialogue of the influence a health body/mind can. have on the world as relates to community, abundance, resiliency .
